work hard.2 jobs.she a bad broad!
So I came across this article on The Huffington Post website entitled, “Can career women be successful mothers?” by Kristin van Ogtrop.
Ogtrop talked about how when she began her career at the age of 27 as an editorial assistant..she didn’t think that women who held high positions in the work place could efficiently take care of their children. She expressed how she felt that those women would seem so tough, brutal and work oriented that there was no way they would be able to handle their children in a healthy manner.
Well, she soon found out through her professional growth as well as life experiences with having her own children, that she was wrong and that it was the complete opposite. Put simply, she found that these women (including herself) have found that they have to make a balance of their personal and professional lives.
My mother is a principal of an elementary school. She is about to retire and I know that she is definitely ready for it. I mean, she has been in the school system for 33 years! Of course she has a passion for teaching children and administration, but the stress can take a tole on a person.
Throughout the years, you have got to imagine the numerous strenuous situations involving upset parents, children and faculty that she has experienced. They may have thought, just like Ogtrop once did, that my mother’s decisions were unjust and questioned, “How could she be a good parent?” or “How could she make this decision about my child that may set him/her back a year?” or “Her children must be terrors!”…etc etc etc.
But, that is definitely not the case. You see, I believe my mother has done an excellent job in mastering the art of the balancing act of her professional and personal lives. Yes, she has had difficult times working in the school system all of these years and dealing with PTA meetings, faculty/staff meetings, board meetings, girl and boy scouts, choir rehearsals and youth group meetings in addition to all of the other activities my brother and I have been involved in. But the fact of the matter is, each and every person my mother interacts with at work does not need to know how she handles her own children…I mean, let’s be for real, my brother and I are not the same people that that child in my mother’s office is.
My parents have worked together throughout their 25 years marriage and have formed a bond that, with God, serves as the glue that holds our family together. Both of my parents work extremely hard and my brother and I truly reap the benefits of their hard work and dedication not only to their careers but our personal family unit as well.
*Side Note: I know the title has the word “broad” in it..I def was not referring to my mother as a “broad”…it’s just a Lil Boosie song lol

Today is beautiful day here in ole Hampton,VA…and you know what that means…………the nasties are out! ..Yes I said it! It is that time of year when numerous girls across campus decide to let their peers and professors see every crack and crevice of their goodies as they flaunt down the walk ways…! #nobueno…! Come on ladies…just because the weather breaks..does not mean that you have to act like a hootch..! Yes, it is okay to show a little leg action and let your arms breathe…but please do it tastefully! ..how bout we start by choosing something that flatters your figure! …just please save our eyes!

Spring Break..oh what a dear sweet memory!
Dear Spring Break Miami,
You did me well. I enjoyed every last bit of what you had to offer and yes, I want more. I so dearly want to return to you and I know you will be waiting for me with open arms…but until then, I will continue to hear the faint sound of you calling my name from a distance…
Oh Miami, everyday I would wake up semi-early…stumble into the bathroom, fight for mirror space with my girls as we all get glammed up for the beginning of our day…we would then skip on to ocean ave. and grab a bite to eat as we sipped on bottomless drinks and salivated at the fine specimen that sauntered down the walk ways. *Lawwwd*
We would then meander over towards the bustling crowds of sun kissed men and women and find a spot to let our tanning oil marinate into our pores and occasionally frolick through the warm white sand and the ocean’s salt water.
Once the sun set, we would make our way back to our room and prepare for the night life…once the glam was in full effect…we made our way to one of the clubs or back to the strip where we would meet sooo many new people!
Oh Miami…I don’t even know why I’m telling you all this because you already know what you have to offer…! I need you in my life…I want you in my life…I gotta have you…and I’m so glad I did even though it was just for a short time…!
As I blow sweet kisses to you…I won’t say farewell…but see you later.

I must admit, this is one of my bad traits. It is something that I constantly work on…but then I find that sometimes I procrastinate fixing this problem….what’s up with that? I don’t know…if I did, I probably would have overcome this pit fall of mine…
Well, what am I doing to aid in this procrastination issue of mine? I’m glad you asked….
I am a very organized person. So that helps me in the sense that I write everything down and color coordinate everything I have to do. Too bad, alot of the time I end up rewritting things that should have been done 2 days ago..but it’s a step right? I think so.
I’m going to go ahead and end this blog for the evening and stop procrastinating studying for my mid-term tomorrow. : )
